This is a Womans Relief Corps relic. The front says, "Womans Relief Corps 1883" and the back says, "Patented May 4, and Sept. 28, 1888" (I'm pretty sure it is 1888 but it could well be 1886... my sight isn't what it used to be I guess) To quote an old neighbor I used to have, "It's hell to get old!" (Laughing, sort of...)
