Northwest Treasure Hunters Club Finds Of the Year 2003
    2004-02-11
    Find of the Year

The competition was fierce for Find of the Year honors. Quite a few of the Find of the Month winners didn?t bring their entries, but the ones on the table were the best of the year anyway! To win Find of the Year takes either some real luck or dedication to your treasure hunting. Congratulations to all the winners!!

OLDEST COIN- This is the last time you?ll see this category for a while since we voted to not use it anymore. Lucy?s 400 AD Roman coin was the oldest followed by Shirley Lambert?s 1664-1735 Chinese cash coin.
COIN- There were some great entries this year-2 cent pieces, barber halves, and lots of silver dollars. John Smith found a silver dollar, Franklin half and 3 wheats in one hole to win top honors. Clay found a Walker and Standing quarter in one hole for second.
GOLD JEWELRY- This race was closer than I thought it would be. I thought Dick?s 18k 15 diamond ring would run away with it. It did win, but Leo?s 2 Black Hills gold and bracelet in one hole was a close second.
SILVER JEWELRY- The table sagged when Jon Skimming put his cross and necklace on it. It was the easy winner. Daniel Burns? ring followed.
MISC. JEWELRY- This was a close one too. Duncan?s cutout Indian Head cent pendant just barely defeated Lucy?s Tom Mix ring.
TOYS- Sandy?s cute biplane was the easy winner of the Toys category. Almost every other entry had around 4 votes, but Michelle Coston?s Tom Mix sheriff badge took second place.
RELICS- There were 7 entries in this category and all of them were found by 3 people- 4 by Steve and 3 by the Costons. Steve?s 1870 Colt pocket revolver won first, but Mike?s Seattle foreman badge was right behind.
MISCELLANEOUS-A great big gold nugget found by Steve Burris was the winner by a couple of votes. Clay had a Post Toasties watch fob for second.
SECONDS-This is the other category that is disappearing. Michelle?s LLL union pin beat John Smith?s 1900 Morgan Dollar by one vote. There were a couple of other entries that got a lot of votes too-Jon?s and Gordon?s.

Winners received a nice plaque and a gold coin. Second place finishers won a silver round.
Time to get fired up for next year. I know the water hunters have already been out there!
